Pick a Texas electricity plan by what you'll really pay

Most comparison sites rank plans by the price at exactly 1,000 kWh. Your usage swings from spring to August — so we price every plan on a full year of it.

  • Every plan on PowerToChoose, refreshed daily
  • Bill-credit "cliffs" modeled month by month — no 1,000 kWh teaser math
  • Free reminders and a calendar entry before your contract ends

Why the 1,000 kWh price can fool you

Bill credits have a cliff

A plan that gives a $125 credit "when usage is 1,000 kWh or more" looks cheap at exactly 1,000 kWh. At 999 kWh the credit disappears and the same bill jumps by $125. In Texas, spring and fall months often land below 1,000.

Your usage is not flat

A typical Texas home uses about twice as much in August as in April. We price each month separately and add them up, so the plan that wins is the one that is cheapest for your whole year.

Contracts end quietly

When a fixed contract ends you roll onto a month-to-month rate that is often far higher. Save your end date and we will email you — and put it on your calendar — before it happens.

Frequently asked questions

How is this different from PowerToChoose?

We use the same plan list, but rank plans by what they would cost over a full year of your usage instead of the price at exactly 1,000 kWh, and we model bill-credit cliffs month by month.

Is it free?

Yes. Comparing plans, the dashboard, reminders, the calendar feed and the API are free. Some sign-up links may pay us a commission, which never changes the ranking.

Do you sign me up or switch my service?

No. We are not a provider or broker. You enroll directly on the provider's site.
