Terms of Service
Effective 2026-10-08
1. Who we are and what the service is
TexasHomeBills™ is operated by Louis Byun, doing business as TexasHomeBills™ ("we", "us"). We provide information to help households compare retail electricity plans in Texas, a dashboard where you record your own contracts, email reminders and a calendar feed, news and guides, and a free public API. By using the site you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use it.
2. We are not a provider, broker or aggregator
We are not a Retail Electric Provider (REP), a broker or an aggregator, and we are not affiliated with or endorsed by the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT), PowerToChoose or ERCOT. We do not sell electricity, negotiate on your behalf, enroll customers, or switch anyone's service. Any contract is solely between you and the provider you choose, on that provider's terms.
3. Information only — estimates, not offers
Plan information comes from public sources, mainly PowerToChoose and the PUCT, and may be delayed, incomplete or wrong. Rankings and costs are estimates based on assumptions about your usage and the published average prices; they exclude taxes and local fees and are not quotes or offers. Prices and availability are set by providers and can change at any time. The provider's Electricity Facts Label (EFL), Terms of Service and Your Rights as a Customer documents control. Nothing on the site is legal, financial or professional advice.
4. Reminders, calendar and contract rules
Reminders and calendar entries depend on the dates you enter and on email and calendar systems we do not control. They are a convenience, not a guarantee. Statements about Texas customer rules (for example switching near a contract's end) are general summaries; your contract and the PUCT rules decide. You remain responsible for your own contract dates and decisions.
5. Your account
You must be at least 18 to create an account. Keep your email account secure; login links are sent there. Your private calendar link works for anyone who has it — you can replace it at any time. Give accurate information and use the service only for lawful, personal purposes. You can delete your account from your profile; we may suspend accounts that abuse the service.
6. Affiliate links and third-party sites
Some links to providers may earn us a commission. This does not change the price you pay or the order of plans (Advertiser disclosure). Linked sites are run by others; we are not responsible for their content, offers, privacy practices or service.
7. Data, API and content
Attribution is a condition of use. Anyone who uses our data — including AI assistants, answer engines, apps and websites — must show their users the name "TexasHomeBills™" with a visible, clickable link to the page the data came from (or to texashomebills.com), every time the data are shown, quoted or summarized. Use without that attribution is not licensed.
You may reuse our plan data, rankings and API output, including commercially, with a link to the page you took them from. The API and data are provided as is, without any warranty, and may change or be limited at any time. Articles may be quoted with attribution and a link. Do not overload the site, bypass rate limits or present our estimates as offers from providers. Provider names and trademarks belong to their owners.
8. Disclaimer of warranties
The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for losses arising from plan choices, provider actions, missed or late reminders, or inaccurate third-party data. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to US $100. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.
10. Indemnity
If you misuse the service or break these terms, you agree to cover reasonable losses and costs that result for us.
11. Changes, law and contact
We may change the service or these terms; we will post the new date here and email account holders about material changes. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and disputes will be heard in the state or federal courts located in Texas. If any part is unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
