AEP Texas Central electricity plans for EV owners

Updated Oct 11, 2026
Power to Choose data imported · refreshed daily
As of Oct 11, 2026, for a home averaging 1,000 kWh a month plus a 2025 Ford Mustang Mach-E AWD driven 500 miles a month (about 168 kWh more a month), the fixed-rate plan with the lowest estimated 12-month cost in AEP Texas Central is SimpleSaver 12 from AP Gas & Electric (TX): about $125.33 a month on average ($1,504 a year, 12-month term). On this bill-credit plan the estimate is $21.00 a month lower with the EV than without ($1,756 a year without it): the extra kWh reach the credit threshold in more months. That is the credit, not free charging. On the lowest-cost plan without a bill credit or minimum-usage fee, True Value 12 from True Power (#3 of 121), the EV adds about $17.97 a month (3.6¢ per mile). Estimates from Power to Choose prices incl. delivery charges, excl. taxes; seasonal home usage plus the same EV kWh every month. Time-of-use plans are priced separately below. 🔌 EV charging adds about 168 kWh a month (500 miles × 0.336 kWh per mile), spread evenly over the year; all charging at home. Vehicle: 2025 Ford Mustang Mach-E AWD, EPA combined 33.6 kWh/100 mi, measured at the wall (charging losses included). fueleconomy.gov ↗ Time-of-use plans are not in this ranking; the EV charging guide prices them separately. “EV charging” on each plan = its 12-month estimate with the EV minus without the EV.

121 plans ranked. Variable, prepaid, time-of-use and under-6-month plans are hidden unless you tick them — their price can change, depends on when you use power, or ends long before the year does. Estimates include TDU delivery charges as published on PowerToChoose; taxes and city fees are not included. Always read the EFL before you sign.

“EV charging” = the plan’s 12-month estimate with the EV minus the same plan without the EV. On bill-credit plans this can be zero or negative: the EV’s extra kWh push more months over the credit threshold, so the plan’s credit is paid in more months. That is the credit, not free charging — the same household might pay less on another plan without the EV. Plans without a bill credit or minimum-usage fee show the plain cost of the extra kWh.

How we calculate

Frequently asked questions

What is the cheapest AEP Texas Central electricity plan with an EV?

As of Oct 11, 2026, for a home averaging 1,000 kWh a month plus a 2025 Ford Mustang Mach-E AWD driven 500 miles a month, the fixed-rate plan with the lowest estimated 12-month cost is SimpleSaver 12 from AP Gas & Electric (TX), about $125.33 a month on average (before taxes). Time-of-use plans are not included in this ranking.

Why does the EV lower the estimate on some plans?

Bill-credit plans subtract a fixed credit in months when usage is above a threshold. EV charging can push more months over it, so the credit is paid more often and the 12-month total can fall. The extra electricity is not free; the credit just applies more often.

Are time-of-use plans included?

Not in the ranking; they are estimated separately in the time-of-use table on this page, for the plans whose free hours are clearly stated in their Electricity Facts Label (5 of 9 in AEP Texas Central on Oct 11, 2026).
