Power to Choose data imported · refreshed daily
As of Oct 9, 2026, for a home averaging 1,000 kWh a month plus a 2025 Tesla Model Y Long Range AWD driven 1,000 miles a month (about 288 kWh more a month), the fixed-rate plan with the lowest estimated 12-month cost in AEP Texas North is SimpleSaver 12 from AP Gas & Electric (TX): about $127.98 a month on average ($1,536 a year, 12-month term).
On this bill-credit plan the estimate is $19.35 a month lower with the EV than without ($1,768 a year without it): the extra kWh reach the credit threshold in more months. That is the credit, not free charging.
On the lowest-cost plan without a bill credit or minimum-usage fee, True Value 12 from True Power (#5 of 123), the EV adds about $31.46 a month (3.1¢ per mile).

“EV charging” on each plan = its 12-month estimate with the EV minus without the EV.
123 plans ranked. Variable, prepaid, time-of-use and under-6-month plans are hidden unless you tick them — their price can change, depends on when you use power, or ends long before the year does.
Estimates include TDU delivery charges as published on PowerToChoose; taxes and city fees are not included. Always read the EFL before you sign.
“EV charging” = the plan’s 12-month estimate with the EV minus the same plan without the EV. On bill-credit plans this can be zero or negative: the EV’s extra kWh push more months over the credit threshold, so the plan’s credit is paid in more months. That is the credit, not free charging — the same household might pay less on another plan without the EV. Plans without a bill credit or minimum-usage fee show the plain cost of the extra kWh.

EV kWh per month = miles per month × kWh per mile ÷ charging efficiency. Vehicle figures are the EPA combined consumption from fueleconomy.gov (U.S. EPA and DOE), retrieved Oct 9, 2026, which is measured at the wall and already includes charging losses, so the charging efficiency is 1.0. With your own kWh per mile (a vehicle-side figure) we divide by 0.90.
The same EV kWh is added to every month (no seasonal driving pattern), and all charging is at home on the household’s plan. The home uses a typical Texas seasonal pattern (more in summer).
Plans are ranked on home + EV usage with our usual method: fixed-rate plans of 6 months or longer, bill credits applied only in months that qualify, Power to Choose prices including delivery charges, taxes not included. Estimates, not offers — check the EFL before you sign. How it works →
Not included: time-of-use pricing for EV charging, public charging, and any comparison with gasoline (we do not collect gasoline prices).

Frequently asked questions
What is the cheapest AEP Texas North electricity plan with an EV?
As of Oct 9, 2026, for a home averaging 1,000 kWh a month plus a 2025 Tesla Model Y Long Range AWD driven 1,000 miles a month, the fixed-rate plan with the lowest estimated 12-month cost is SimpleSaver 12 from AP Gas & Electric (TX), about $127.98 a month on average (before taxes). Time-of-use plans are not included in this ranking.
Why does the EV lower the estimate on some plans?
Bill-credit plans subtract a fixed credit in months when usage is above a threshold. EV charging can push more months over it, so the credit is paid more often and the 12-month total can fall. The extra electricity is not free; the credit just applies more often.
Are time-of-use plans included?
Not in the ranking: we have not yet estimated EV charging on time-of-use plans. The 8 listed in AEP Texas North on Oct 9, 2026 are linked on this page.
