Baytown electricity rates
Lowest estimated annual cost by monthly usage
⚠ The lowest advertised 1,000 kWh price here is SimpleSaver 12 from AP Gas & Electric (TX) at 6.9¢/kWh, but for a home averaging 1,000 kWh it ranks #108 of 128 on estimated annual cost (about $1,828/yr vs $1,441/yr for #1) — its bill credit is missed in low-usage months. Why?
Estimates from Power to Choose prices incl. delivery charges, excl. taxes; seasonal usage (more in summer). Not offers — check the EFL.
ℹ Utility boundaries follow addresses, not city limits: some homes in or near Baytown are served by an electric co-op or a city utility where you cannot choose a provider. Check the utility (TDU/TDSP) printed on your bill or look up your ZIP code.
Most of Baytown is served by CenterPoint, which delivers the power and handles outages. You choose the retail provider and plan below; the delivery charge is the same whichever you pick.

Moving in Texas: how to plan your electricity for move-out and move-in
When you move in Texas, tell your current provider your move-out date and a forwarding address, and order service at the new home as a "move-in" a week or more ahead. Under PUCT rules your contract covers only the address in it, so you usually owe no early-termination fee for moving if you give a forwarding address and, if asked, reasonable proof of the move. Check whether the new address has a different utility or no retail choice at all before you shop.

Early termination fees on Texas electricity plans: how they work and when leaving pays
Most Texas fixed-rate plans of 12 months or more charge an early-termination fee, either a flat amount such as $150 or a set amount per remaining month such as $20. Leaving early pays only when what you save over the remaining months is larger than the fee, so multiply the monthly saving by the months left, adjusting for the season, and compare. Some cases carry no fee at all, such as moving or the last 14 days of the contract.

Texas electricity rates in October 2026: what our data shows
As of October 2026, our data lists 952 distinct residential plan offers (1,107 listings before combining English/Spanish duplicates of the same plan) from 44 provider brands across Texas's competitive utility areas. For a home averaging 1,000 kWh a month on a seasonal profile, the lowest estimated annual cost for a fixed-rate plan ranges from about $1,323 (AEP Texas Central) to about $1,464 (Oncor), and the cheapest-looking plans at 1,000 kWh mostly rank far lower once a full year is counted.

Frequently asked questions
Which utility do I have? It is printed on your bill as the TDU or TDSP — the company you call for outages. Dallas–Fort Worth is mostly Oncor, Houston is CenterPoint, Corpus Christi and the Rio Grande Valley are AEP Texas Central. Austin and San Antonio have city utilities and no plan choice.
Why is a plan that is cheapest at 1,000 kWh not first? Many of those plans give a bill credit only at 1,000 kWh or more. In months below the threshold the credit disappears. We price each month separately, so a plan that loses its credit in spring and fall can cost more over the year.
Are taxes included? No. Prices include the utility's delivery charges as listed on PowerToChoose; sales tax and city fees vary by address and add a few percent to every plan alike.
